What are the DOs and DON'Ts for a Newborn Photoshoot?

Updated: Sep 15, 2020

Newborn Babies are so delicate in nature, and utmost care must be taken in the process of the Photoshoot.

In general Newborn Photography is done at a pretty early stage, almost within first 2-3 weeks of the birth, and this is a time babies are vulnerable to contagious deseases as the immunity system hasn't grown yet.

Care also must be taken while doing the baby wrap process which involves folding the limbs of the newborn to give it a 'womb' pose , although it may look pretty natural for a newborn while it sleeps, but make sure only expert person is handling this work.

In general Newborn Baby Photoshoots are done while the baby is asleep, and thus the baby needs to be fed well for a good confy sleep to start.

We mention below a list of Dos and Don'ts for the new parents to take note, if they are planning for a Newborn Photoshoot.

Do’s:

  • Make sure that you are sanitizing your hands before touching your babies. The babies do not have a robust immune system, so try to protect them.

  • Try to do an indoor photoshoot process, so you don't have to take your baby outside.

  • Feed the baby after a short period so that she does not get awake.

  • Take the pictures while the baby is sleeping; it will be difficult for you to take the picture while he is awake.

Don’ts:

  • Don’t shake your baby while taking pictures. It can be extremely harmful to your baby.

  • Don't leave the support of your baby neck for the sake of a good picture, as your baby does not have a stiff neck and will not be able to carry his head.

  • Don’t take your baby to a crowded place to make a good picture.

  • Don't use heavy flashlights on him. It can destroy his eyesight.
